Hey gang,

I've been in a recent discussion with another blogger HERE on some pretty heavy issues. I'm not sure if Eddie is the blogger of residence, but the blog owner is struggling with (losing?) faith in Christ and Eddie, who I've exchanged a few comments with, seems to be beyond struggling and into disbelief. Eddie's read a bit and thinks, and we've been kicking back and forth a few things (always hard to do in the comment section of a blog).

Please check it out if you can. Funkiller, I know, has been down some of this road. If I have time, and this exchange really is very, very important to me even though schools starts Tuesday!, I'll do some writing on his points here where I have more space.

I found your blog from the Edge of Faith blog. I like what I'm seeing here.

Just in case you're still wondering about the Eddies: Edge of Faith is Eddie O's blog; Eddie F is a regular commenter. Both Eddies have been struggling in their faith for a year or more. Eddie F recently ended his own blog because he could "no longer speak from any kind of Christian perspective." They have both been left cold by their church experiences.

Anyway, I'm bookmarking your blog and will return soon.

Wife and son have the bug and went out late to the midnight after thanksgiving sales...best of luck. I am far too old for that madness. I had my first meeting with my priest and formally announced my intention to enter discernment. Or, in the lingo, "articulated my call." I really don't like the "call" term. Hey Gang

Well, it's nice to be back. My life has changed to much since my last posts all I have time for is an update. Deep breath. I gave up the idea of the priesthood around the last time I wrote about it here, maybe a few months before. When I realized five years ago that my son would be starting his freshman year at college, and we'd be paying for half of it at least, splitting costs with his bio-dad, the same year I would start seminary I thought: this just cannot happen. My wife was still underpaid, working as an intern, and I had been the primary breadwinner all the years we've lived together and my son is, well, my son. It is my job to make his life as good as I can. It felt selfish, narcissistic, I am not sure of the word, but I knew I could not pay for both or was not willing to try. Wanting to Come Back....

I really need, want, to write again here. In the quippish world of facebook world there is no anonymity. Here, I had (some) anonymity but I never knew who read. It's a lot easier for a friend of mine to write some funny comment (quip) after a post on facebook; less common, exponentially less common, to get comments to know who is reading here. And so for two years I've been stuck trying to decide: do I blog again here, do I write posts under my actual name, do I just do notes in facebook? More and more I'm leaning here. I want to write a memoir, and this will provide me a place to sketch vignettes, moments...memories. Plus, I wrote a lot here about my recovery over the years and that recovery is proceeding pretty well right now. I'm in a good spot for the most part though I have plenty left to process. I can do that here also. So, it's summer; I hope to get something up here before too long. love to all.
